The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Datsun 240Z SPB517J is a limited edition of just 2,500 pieces, honouring Seiko's historic partnership with Datsun and the 240Z's 1971 East African Safari Rally success. The matte black dial carries a large, early Datsun logo at 6 o'clock, echoed again on the case back, alongside a dashboard-inspired inner countdown ring for staging, pit stops, or event timing, operated via a second crown at 4 o'clock.
Powering the watch is Seiko's in-house Calibre 6R55 automatic movement, offering hand-winding, hacking seconds, 24 jewels and a generous 72-hour power reserve. LumiBrite treatment on the hands and indexes ensures legibility in low light, and a date display sits neatly on the dial.
The 39.5mm stainless steel case is finished with a super-hard coating and measures 12mm thick, with a 44.5mm lug-to-lug for a comfortable, wearable fit. A curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inner surface protects the dial, and the screw case back is engraved "LIMITED EDITION" with an individual serial number. It's water resistant to 200 metres.
The watch is fitted with a perforated black leather rally-style strap, secured with a three-fold clasp with push-button release, and finished with "Datsun" script on the buckle.
