Description
The Seiko Prospex "Marinemaster" SLA077J is a modern reinterpretation of the landmark 1968 diver's watch that first established Seiko's reputation for serious dive tools, now updated with contemporary materials and finishing. It's powered by the automatic Calibre 8L35, hand-assembled at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio in northern Japan, offering a 50-hour power reserve and manual winding capability.
The 42.6mm stainless steel case is treated with a hard coating and finished with a mix of brushed and mirror-polished surfaces, echoing the angular, faceted shape of the original 1968 design. A double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the textured white dial, which features high-contrast LumiBrite-coated hands and applied indices for strong legibility in low light or underwater.
A black unidirectional rotating bezel with a steel insert and 60-minute scale allows elapsed dive time to be tracked at a glance, with an angled date window sitting between 4 and 5 o'clock. The screw-down crown and case back combine to deliver 300 metres of water resistance, making this a genuine tool watch suited to serious diving as well as everyday wear.
The watch is fitted with a matching stainless steel bracelet, finished to complement the case's mixed surfaces.
