The Seiko Prospex Marinemaster HBF002J is a JAMSTEC Limited Edition, one of only 1,000 pieces produced to mark Seiko's long-standing partnership with the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology. The dial design draws inspiration from the Mirai II, Japan's first icebreaking polar research vessel, depicting the trail it carves through Arctic sea ice. The textured blue dial is built up from multiple layers of translucent lacquer, polished to create a sense of depth reminiscent of the Arctic Ocean, deepening in colour toward the centre. It's paired with a blue ceramic bezel and protected by dual-curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. Powering the watch is Seiko's high-specification Calibre 8L45, hand-assembled at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio in Japan, offering a 72-hour power reserve and manual winding capability. The 42.6mm stainless steel case features a screw-down crown positioned just above 4 o'clock, alongside a screw case back, delivering 300 metres of water resistance built to ISO diver's watch standards. The watch is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet with a tool-less micro-adjustment clasp, allowing quick sizing without tools for a secure, comfortable fit.
