The 5 C's

Carat
Carat weight is the method by which diamonds are sized. One carat equals 100 "points", so the weight of a diamond of 25 points is 0.25 carats or 1/4 carat.
Colour
Subtle colour differences allow gem quality diamonds to be graded from the prized, totally colourless stones, to the highly prized fancies.
Clarity
Each diamond is graded according to its unique combination of minute mineral traces called inclusions. The fewer the number
of inclusions, the more rare, hence more valuable the stone.
Cut
The precision and delicacy of a diamond's cut - not its shape - dictate how much light is reflected. Good proportions reflect light between the facets and up through the crown. Too shallow or deep a cut lets some light escape through the pavilion. Popular diamond shapes include round, oval, princess-cut, emerald-cut, Asscher-cut, marquise-cut, radiant-cut, pear-shaped, and heart-shaped diamonds.
